Dan Hemphill - President
I have enjoyed recruiting accounting and finance professionals for corporations in Omaha and throughout the upper Midwest for nearly 30 years. I joined Robert Half International in 1988 and was promoted to Director in 1993. In 1998, I earned their "Chairman's Club" award for leadership. In February 2000, I made the decision to "live my dream" and founded Hemphill Search Group, following with Hemphill Staffing Solutions in 2001. I am proud of our team, the progress we've made to date, and I am even more excited about our future growth!
I understand that a company is only as strong as the players it has on the field. I am passionate about understanding each client's business, culture, and growth objectives, so we can identify the individuals who will ultimately help our clients achieve their goals. Our reputation is "on the line" each time we assist a client in hiring a new employee. We take the time to make sure that we have found the "right match" so that each candidate we place is well positioned for success. Since excellence always endures and remains long after cost is forgotten, our team is squarely focused on delivering quality solutions the first time. Because our Firm is built upon a foundation of strong values, I know that taking the "high road" and "doing the right thing" consistently are the cornerstones to lasting business relationships.
I grew up in Griswold, Iowa, and graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. During my undergraduate studies I was a member of the football team and Students In Free Enterprise. I later completed the Entrepreneurial Masters Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I am an active supporter of Financial Executives International (FEI) and I am a proud member of The Association for Corporate Growth of Nebraska (ACG Nebraska). I am a Charter Member of the Nebraska Chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), where I served several years on their Board of Directors. As a Director of the American Association of Finance and Accounting (AAFA), the oldest and largest alliance of executive search firms specializing in the recruitment and staffing of Finance and Accounting professionals, I gain exposure to national issues and trends. I have served as a member of the Alumni Board of Buena Vista University where I am committed to giving back to the students and leadership team of Buena Vista University. I am also an active member of Westside Church in Omaha.
My wife Susie and I have four children, Cameron, Austin, Miles and Carmel.
Steve Getzfrid, CPA - Director and Associate Partner
With more than 25 years of leadership within accounting, finance, audit, and project management, Steve brings valuable experience to his role as a search executive. Steve knows first-hand that the most important factor in the success of a leader, division, or company is deeply rooted in getting the right players on the team and having each player in the right position based upon their individual strengths and interests. Steve is an engaging individual who adds value to the selection process while partnering with clients to identify the right person for the position. Steve truly cares about each individual he interviews and makes sure he understands their strengths, interests and long-term career goals to ensure that we have identified the "right match" for both our client and candidate. Steve plays an important leadership role at Hemphill with responsibility for the growth and success of the Accounting & Finance search services delivered by Hemphill Search Group, Inc.
Steve earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, practiced as a CPA and Manager with KPMG in Omaha, and later served clients of Crowe Horwath in Michigan. While in private industry, Steve played important leadership roles within the internal audit departments of Commercial Federal Bank, ConAgra, and First National Bank. While with ConAgra, Steve progressed to Financial Management roles within operating companies and later led profit improvement initiatives, business process re-engineering projects, and operations focused process improvements. As Director of Finance and Project Manager on ConAgra's SAP Implementation team, Steve led a team of finance, systems, and process owners while ensuring the implementation was a success.
Steve grew up in Fremont, NE. He enjoys reading, sports, golf, and quality time with his family. Steve and his wife Wendy have 3 children Stosh, Maggie, and Emma. Stosh is a CPA at Deloitte, and Maggie is an elementary school teacher. Emma, the youngest member of the Getzfrid family is studying accounting at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Jeff Kovar - Director and Associate Partner
Jeff has more than 10 years of experience within accounting and financial recruiting. A key factor in Jeff's success is his passion to build long-standing relationships while focused on an in-depth understanding of the strengths, interests, and career goals of each individual he works with. Jeff takes pride in his role, and knows that helping an individual step up to a position where they are focused on their strengths, while having the opportunity to grow professionally, are key factors in identifying the "right match." "It is incredibly rewarding to know that we have helped make a real difference in the life of an individual when we place them into a company where they are well positioned for success, happiness, and career growth."
Jeff understands that the biggest factor contributing to the success of a leader is their ability to identify, hire, develop, and retain high quality employees. Jeff is tenacious in his recruitment and careful while selecting individuals who will be successful and happy in their new position long-term. It is all about the "right match" so, Jeff pushes himself to make sure that the companies and the individuals we assist have found the right solution!
Jeff graduated from Millard South High School where he played basketball and was active in student council. Jeff had fun while investing six years coaching youth basketball in the Omaha Parochial Athletic League and the Millard Junior High feeder league. Jeff studied Pre-Law at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and then transferred to Creighton where he switched his major to Organizational Communication. Prior to joining Hemphill Search Group, Jeff worked in corporate foreign currency exchange, with Travelex and Custom House, who are both now owned by Western Union Business Solutions.
Jeff and his wife Jenny grew up in Omaha and met while in High School. They are very active and enjoy playing golf, traveling, and cheering the Cornhusker Football and Basketball teams, and they are also enthusiastic Creighton Basketball fans. Jeff and Jenny have a young and growing family, with son Connor, and daugthers Kate and Grace.
Amber Velasquez, CPA - Recruiting Manager
As a CPA, and leader within a large public accounting firm serving middle market companies across diverse industries, Amber learned that the biggest factor determining the success of a company, is the people who make up the company. At Hemphill, Amber specializes in helping companies select talented individuals for important positions at all levels within corporate accounting, financial reporting, tax, audit, budgeting, forecasting, planning, treasury, compliance, and public accounting.
It is fun and rewarding to help a leader select an individual who is well matched for success and happiness in their new position. The opportunity to work with individuals while learning about their strengths, interests, priorities, and short and long-term career goals is very rewarding. I really enjoy the relationship side of my work. It is a lot of fun to see the excitement in an individual who has found the career opportunity that they know is right for them. It is an honor to be a trusted advisor to individuals who are managing their careers toward the goals that are most important to them.
I also enjoy learning about each company we partner with, then teaming up with the leaders to understand their goals and priorities. Since the success of each leader is dependent upon their ability to create a team of successful individuals who work well together, we play an important role in the success of each of these teams.
Amber grew up on a farm outside of Diller, Nebraska which is southwest of Lincoln near the Kansas border. In high school, Amber was involved in many activities including volleyball, basketball, track & field, softball, powerlifting, 4-H, national honor society, student council, yearbook, school plays, concert, marching and pep band, flag corps, and she led her class as President and Valedictorian. At Midland University, Amber earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting, Marketing, and Management. Outside of the classroom Amber remained active as a member of the Midland University softball team, Treasurer of the Phi Omega Sorority, President of the Student Ambassador team, and she served on the Midland Strategic Planning Committee, and the Midland Arboretum Committee. Amber is a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and serves on the Careers Committee of the Nebraska Society of CPA’s.
Amber and her husband Tyrell have two very active girls Cora and Myla and a black lab named Baxter. Amber and Tyrell love Husker Football and spending Saturday’s in Lincoln each fall. They enjoy traveling, playing volleyball, gardening, planting flowers, and taking their daughters to the zoo whenever possible. Amber is an active member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church and she serves as Chair of the Finance Committee for Loves Jazz and Art Center.
Deanna Soulliere - Director of First Impressions
Deanna is in charge of "first impressions" at Hemphill. In this role, Deanna ensures that all guests are welcomed while knowing that we genuinely care and are eager to help. Deanna plays a key role while assisting individuals in their progress toward their career goals, by coordinating testing, and personality assessments. She manages a wide variety of administrative responsibilities and assists with research, analysis, database integrity, and marketing initiatives.
Deanna enjoys helping others, and takes pride in assisting individuals throughout our testing phase because she knows these assessments help ensure that each individual we place is well-matched for success based upon their skills and experience. Our personality assessment tools help ensure that each individual's natural personality is well-matched with the position and the culture of the company we are placing them into.
Prior to joining Hemphill, Deanna had a successful career at Central Community College. After earning her degree at Central's Columbus, Nebraska campus; Deanna was hired by the College and asked to take responsibility for administrative duties within operations and procurement. Deanna was later promoted, and transferred to their Grand Island campus where she was the Executive Assistant for the Vice President of Educational Services. Later, Deanna transferred back to their Columbus campus where she helped students and employers connect through the career planning and placement department. In her last position, Deanna focused her efforts on helping at risk students earn their degree and a positive start to their career.
Deanna grew up in Silver Creek, Nebraska where she was very active in volleyball, basketball, yearbook, drama, choir, cheerleading, and class officer responsibilities. Deanna earned degrees from Central Community College, and her Bachelor’s degree is in Business Administration from Bellevue University. She and her husband Jeff have busy lives with five children: Denae, Bobbie, Lucas, Amanda, and Abbie. Deanna and Jeff enjoy traveling and an active social calendar which now includes grandchildren. Her hobbies include sand volleyball, reading, decorating, refurbishing furniture, and travel.
