Accounting & Business Manager - Partner with brilliant owner to scale this blue collar business!

Successful, expanding business with highly analytical and intelligent owner is ready to hire a versatile leader into a key role.  Excellent opportunity to roll up your sleeves and immerse yourself into the business and play an important advisory role, working with the owner of the company to help them continue to grow the business for many years into the future.  This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to  grow into an executive or even shareholder role some day!

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ACCOUNTING - Monthly financial statement preparation (all journal entries, bank reconciliations, fixed assets and monthly close activities), oversight of all accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, expense reimbursement and responsibility for partnering with outside CPA as it relates to all year-end tax and audit activities
  • HUMAN RESOURCES - Oversee all new employee onboarding, compliance, insurance, employee training, hiring, and yearly insurance and 401k administration and manage the Payroll vendor
  • IT - Partner with outsourced IT vendor to oversee and handle all computer, systems, Salesforce and IT issues
  • OPERATIONS - Oversee and take ownership for all facilities, contracts, phones, office supplies, and special projects
  • ADMINISTRATION - Oversee all admin staff who takes ownership for answering phones, maintaining schedules, coordinating travel, event planning and all administrative duties in the office

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong accounting skillset - must have a track record of producing accurate monthly financials and be a CPA or have demonstrated ability to perform the accounting functions as the company continues to grow and expand
  • Must have the ability and willingness to roll up the sleeves and be a doer initially, but grow into a key leadership role at the table, helping grow the business
  • Must have strong communication skills - with ability to manage outsourced vendor relationships, build strong, loyal employee engagement and ability to partner up closely and fit into the style of the existing leadership team
  • Willingness and ability to do more than just accounting - this is a broad role, with responsibilities across several functions of the business

Jeff studied Pre-Law at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and then transferred to Creighton where he switched his major to Organizational Communication. Prior to joining Hemphill Search Group, Jeff worked in corporate foreign currency exchange, with Travelex and Custom House, who are both now owned by Western Union Business Solutions.

    Jeff and his wife Jenny grew up in Omaha and met while in High School. They are very active and enjoy playing golf, traveling, and cheering the Cornhusker Football and Basketball teams, and they are also enthusiastic Creighton Basketball fans. Jeff and Jenny have a young and growing family, with son Connor, and daughters Kate and Grace.
