I have enjoyed recruiting accounting and finance professionals for corporations in Omaha and throughout the upper Midwest for more than 19 years.  I joined Robert Half International in 1988 and was promoted to Director in 1993.  In 1998, I earned their “Chairman’s Club” award for leadership.  In February 2000, I made the decision to “live my dream” and founded Hemphill Search Group, following with Hemphill Staffing Solutions in 2001.  I am proud of our team, the progress we’ve made to date, and I am even more excited about our future growth! 

I understand that a company is only as strong as the players it has on the field.  I am passionate about understanding each client's business, culture, and growth objectives, so we can identify the individuals who will ultimately help our clients achieve their goals.  Our reputation is “on the line” each time we assist a client in hiring a new employee.  We take the time to make sure that we have found the "right match" so that each candidate we place is well positioned for success. Since excellence always endures and remains long after cost is forgotten, our team is squarely focused on delivering quality solutions the first time.  Because our Firm is built upon a foundation of strong values, I know that taking the “high road” and “doing the right thing” consistently are the cornerstones to lasting business relationships. 

I grew up in Griswold, Iowa, and graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.  During college I was a member of the football team and Students In Free Enterprise.  I remain an active member of the Institute of Management Accountants after serving for more than 10 years on its Board of Directors.  I am an active supporter of FEI (Financial Executives International) and I am a Charter Member of the Nebraska Chapter of EO (Entrepreneurs Organization).  As a Director of AAFA (American Association of Finance and Accounting), the oldest and largest alliance of executive search firms specializing in the recruitment and staffing of Finance and Accounting professionals, I gain exposure to national issues and trends.  I am an energetic member of the Alumni Board of Buena Vista University where I am committed to giving back to the students and leadership team of Buena Vista University.  I am also an active member of my church, where I serve on the drama team.

My wife Susie and I have four children, Cameron, Austin, Miles and Carmel.

Josh gained valuable experience as a CPA serving mid-sized and large clients in a variety of industries.  Josh’s broad exposure has given him the understanding that the single biggest factor determining the success of a company is largely dependent upon the quality of the people who make up the company.  While working with client companies, Josh takes the time to meet with the hiring authority to gain an in-depth understanding of the role, main responsibilities, accomplishments to be achieved, and the culture of the team.

“I enjoy making a difference and a positive impact on the lives of the candidates we work with,” Josh adds.  “I recognize how important it is to really get to know the candidate, so I have a clear understanding of their strengths, interests, and short and long-term career goals.”

Josh earned his Bachelor of Science from Creighton University with majors in Accounting and MIS.  He worked his way through college and gained valuable experience with ERP systems while working as a Software Support Professional with a local software development firm. After graduation, Josh earned his CPA while working for BKD LLP. Raised in Humphrey, Nebraska, Josh possesses a strong small-town work ethic. He is active in the community as a member of the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Council.  Josh is an alumnus of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and a 1^st Degree member of Knights of Columbus.

In his spare time, Josh has fun with friends and family while boating and jet skiing. Josh also enjoys working with his Dad while restoring his 1959 T-Bird and 1957 Ford Ranch Wagon.

Brett brings more than 16 years of leadership within accounting and corporate finance to his role as a Search Executive on the Hemphill Search Group team.  Brett has a strong track record of identifying and selecting high-caliber professionals who are successful in their roles and often advance far beyond their initial position.

Brett approaches the recruitment and selection process with this view: “It all starts with an understanding of our client company’s short and long-term needs.  Identifying an individual who has the experience to do the job today is important, but the key to the right match is finding someone who will thrive in the role and be able to deliver the results needed long-term.” Brett stays focused on making sure the position is filled with the right person, the first time. 

Brett is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Finance and Economics. He joined First National Bank of Omaha as a Management Trainee and progressed over 13 years to the role of Chief Financial Officer of one of the largest divisions of the bank.  Brett later served a well-established real estate management firm as President for more than two years where he managed sales and the operational functions of the firm.

Brett was raised in Wilton, Iowa, which is on the east side of the state near Davenport. He is passionate about Junior Achievement where he has served for more than 20 years as a Consultant and Instructor.  Brett is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church where he is an active volunteer. His hobbies include travel, reading and investing.  Brett and his wife Amy have a very busy home with four active boys, Luke, Aaron, Alex and Nick.

Dave is a tenured Vice President and CFO who now spends 100% of his time helping companies select and hire high-caliber professionals at all levels within accounting, finance, tax, audit, and treasury.  Dave draws upon his management and leadership experience to help individuals identify positions that will optimally leverage their strengths and interests which ultimately produces the “right match” for both our client companies and the professionals we are placing.

Dave’s approach to finding the right match for our clients and our candidates reflects his passion for the industry. “I absolutely love partnering with our candidates to find the right role that offers an exciting career path where their talents will shine.  After thirty years of leadership in the accounting and finance industry, I am thrilled to be able to partner with the management teams of our client companies to help them hire the high-caliber players needed to take their companies to their full potential.”

Dave graduated from the University of Tulsa with a BSBA in Accounting. He began his career as an Accountant with Williams Exploration Company in Oklahoma and later became the Controller of International Chemical Corp.  Dave moved to Omaha in 1992 to join America First Apartment Investors, a publicly-traded fund management company, where he served as Controller, CFO, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, and later as Senior Vice President of Asset Management. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and is well-versed in real estate principles, finance, and law.

Dave was born and raised in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, a town of 16,000 divided by the Arkansas River. At age 13, he met his future wife, Linda, when they attended church youth group together. She later moved across the street from him and they married at age 18. Together, they have three children, Jami, Chad and Jill, and one granddaughter, Edyn. Dave is very active in the community as a Board member of the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation where he serves on the grant, finance, and scholarship committees, and as a volunteer fifth and sixth grade basketball coach for the Papillion-La Vista South Lady Titans. In addition, he was past President of the Papillion-La Vista South High School TACT organization. Dave enjoys spending time with his family and his new granddaughter, reading, swimming, and working out with his son at the local fitness center.

Allison has been with Hemphill Search Group since late 2006. As our former Director of First Impressions, she greeted each of our clients and candidates with a warm welcome and bright smile. Allison brings her energetic personality coupled with her efficient and professional administrative support of our recruiting managers to her new role as Recruiting Specialist at Hemphill Search Group where she will be in charge of database integrity and analysis, in-depth research, and file management.

Malone brings an array of experience to her role as Recruiting Specialist. While attending college, Allison worked as an Assistant Manager in retail, a sales associate at a spa, and as a reporter and staff writer at The Daily Dragon newspaper in Gretna, Nebraska.  In addition, she produced, anchored and reported for the campus television station and enjoyed her role as an on-air disc jockey for the campus radio station.  Allison earned her Bachelors of Journalism degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Allison’s positive can-do attitude, focus on quality, customer service, and her attention to detail make her an invaluable member of our team.

Allison grew up in Clark, South Dakota (population 1,000) 100 miles north of Sioux Falls.  She and her husband Kelly, an estimator / engineer enjoy Gretna’s small town living with their new baby daughter, Sydney, and their two dogs, Charlie and Daisy. Allison enjoys home improvement projects, baking, watching college football, and believes in living life to the fullest each and every day!

Laura has more than 9 years of recruiting and staffing experience, and has played a key role on the Hemphill Search Group team for more than 6 years. 

Laura’s upbeat attitude, “how can I help” approach, and passion for customer service has made her a pillar within our Firm's foundation.  Laura plays a key role in helping our recruiters find the “right candidate for the job” and works closely with our candidates throughout the search process to ensure they receive the service they deserve.  Laura’s focus is on the core processes that lead us to success including the extensive research that leads us to the right candidates, database integrity and analysis, file management, and background checks.  Laura also plays a leadership role in the administration, marketing, systems management and creative aspects of our firm.

Laura’s recruiting career began with Sitel Corporation where she interviewed, selected, and hired customer service representatives.  After more than two years with a national staffing firm, Laura brought her experience and passion for excellence to Hemphill Search Group in 2001.

Laura grew up in Orange City, Iowa, graduated from Northwest Iowa Community College and studied human relations at Northwestern College.  Laura and her husband Ed enjoy UNO Maverick hockey, traveling, decorating their new home, and their growing family, which currently consists of a high-energy dog.
